Name Jong PairezAbout Jong Pairez (b. 1978) is an artist, photographer, and an aspiring filmmaker working in New Media Art. He is interested in understanding topics on Migration, Displacement, Geography and Cross-cultural boundaries. His works uses digital and analog technologies that deals with logic and irrationality of space. Pairez has produced short digital video documentaries and 8mm film productions that tries to simulate the environment where sound and images is crucial in re-creating imposed Geographies. His works were mainly produced between Tokyo and Manila. In May 2008, he was awarded a scholarship grant by EngageMedia for its week long workshop on FOSS Software Development and Online video distribution, the workshop was held in Indonesia under the tutelage “Transmission Asia Pacific”. Pairez is currently working on a new 8mm film production that aims to combine analog images with separate digitized sound made out of computer errors and electronic glitches.
